Is Maoism still popular in China today?

Recommended Posts

Is Maoism still popular in China today? I'v read that the Chinese government have band some of Mao Zedongs writings and they tried to get Marxists.org website closed down because the website translated into Chinese and published writings of Mao's.

And does the Chinese government support any of the Maoist Communist movements around the world? Does the Chinese government help financially or arm and of the movements like  Naxalites and the Communist Party of Nepal Maoist?

There are over 60 million members of the Communist Party of China.  That figure dwarfs all the rest of the world Communist parties put together, so anything it does should be of great interest to us.  As is to be expected, such a massive party will have a great variety of individuals - from sheer opportunists to committed Marxists.  There is a general tendency among Western Leftists to dismiss the CPC, but this is a kind of imperialist thinking.  Rather we should try to be in contact with and support the progressive trends in the party.
