Fodla32 3,692 Report post Posted January 10, 2012 To get the ball rolling, I'm a member of James Connolly Soviet, and I'm a Communist and an Irish Republican. I go along with Comrade Mao's maxim: In wars of liberation, patriotism is applied internationalism. I believe that you must be national before you can be international. Both are needed. The attack on Libya affected me very deeply, and let me know the importance of the Wretched of the Earth standing together. Separately we are weak, but together we are unbeatable. I love the Irish language, and teach in Connolly Soviet's Irish classes in Connolly Books. I also love learning other languages - but my failing is that I try too many of them and don't really progress in any. I dont play any musical instruments, but I have put my name down for Connolly Soviets bagpipes classes - so who knows... Also I love dancing Tango and Salsa, and we are hoping to have a Latin Dancing class coming up in the very near future. I also help out with Connolly Soviet's Comedy Club at the Maple Hotel. Thanks for reading a chairde. Adh mór libh. 5 Laoch na nGael, Dumbledore, tallaght republican and 2 others reacted to this
nico 2,875 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Is mise Nico. And just like Fodla32 I'm a Communist and a PROUD Irish Republican! I'm also getting lessons from Fodla32 in as Gaeilge, tá sé múinteoir ar fheabhas! I play a bit of music myself, "an feadóg stain agus an bódhran" and hope to learn the bag-pipes with comrades through the James Connolly Soviet. I'm full of soviet home made brew (http://soviet.ie/ind...e-home-brewing/) and on a happy one, tomorrow I might be a bastard lol 5 Laoch na nGael, Frithbheart32, Fodla32 and 2 others reacted to this
Connolly16 192 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 My name's Conor. I'm a 16 year old Communist republican, non aligned at the moment but considering joining a socialist republican group this year. I'm currently in Secondary school. I enjoy sport, particularly Football, Hurling and Soccer, I play football myself. Asides from sport I have a big interest in music, history and politics. Most of my friends would be non political and wouldn't even know that I am, so I suppose you could say I live abit of a double life! 6 nico, Laoch na nGael, Lugh Ildánach and 3 others reacted to this
Laoch na nGael 611 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 I'm a communist and to a lesser extent a republican because I am an internationalist. Not in any group yet but im 90% certain that I will join the IRSM when I leave school at the end of the year. Love sport, and play a bit of Rugby,Hurling and if im forced to Football (Gaelic). Im very interested in politics and current affair and will going to do charity work in Africa later in the year. As connolly16 says most people I know aren't political and id usually try to keep my political views to myself unless someone else starts the conversation. Im hoping to go and do some sort of politics course in uni after a gap year. 4 nico, Dumbledore, Connolly16 and 1 other reacted to this
Frithbheart32 377 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Names Frithbheart32(obviously not my real name:-) I'm a republican and anti all forms of imperialism, I dont deem myself a socialist republican, left republican or communist republican, as I feel to be an Irish republican is to embody all forms of liberation be they national, personal, economic and spiritual. Ive been active in republicanism, other campaigns and projects related to left and social causes since my mid teens, Im in my late twenties now and feel Ive still much to discover and learn. Im a firm believer in concept of Unity, and inclusism, and still hold hope that one day all republicans and anti-imperialists stand together in defiance to pursue our common goals. Im immersed in study at moment as a mature student, more for experience then future career. Other then that Im just one of the boys, raising young family, listening underground dance music, computer games, keeping fit, having a laugh Like everyone else here Im intriqued by home brewing:-) 3 Dumbledore, Fodla32 and nico reacted to this

A good few of my mates do production and djing so I'm getting more into house music lately, they're fairly good! 3 nico, Fodla32 and Dumbledore reacted to this
bie 16 Report post Posted January 14, 2012 Hi, my name is Bartosz. I was born in socialist Peoples Republic of Poland. I have witnessed counterrevolution of 1989/91 as a kid, with all its frauds and false promises. Now it is clear that communists were right; even if they used force, they did it to protect the people's and workers gains against the class enemy. I am Marxist-Leninist, a member of the Communist Party. I strongly believe that the future belongs to Socialism, similar to the one we have experienced in XX century, but enriched by the new developments of science, technology and culture. Capitalism cannot overcome its internal contradictions, which, sooner or later will inflate in a form of World War or a destabilization of the internal situation. The more imperialism sinks, the more clear the solution given by the Marxism-Leninism will appear to the people. 5 Laoch na nGael, Fodla32, nico and 2 others reacted to this
Guest Connolly Report post Posted January 19, 2012 Great forum! Im the same Connolly from ir.net. Im a libertarian socialist. Unlike some others above, everyone and anyone who knows me knows im political because I never stop rowing with people over it! lol Im a communist since id say around 2000. The greatest political influence on me was Ed Clark (aka Redstar2000), who passed away last year . (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Redstar2000) Favourite sport is cycling - mainly cyclotouring and mountain biking. Also like photography, drawing/sketching, swimming and adventure sports (kayaking, orienteering etc.). I like virtually any music with leftish lyrics (even if in a foreign language), and traditional music from around the world. Fav instrument is the tin whistle which I keep intending to learn. 4 Connolly16, nico, Dumbledore and 1 other reacted to this

John 142 Report post Posted February 3, 2012 Hi my names John, I found this site through ir.net and have been enjoying reading all the interesting conversations so far. A little about me, I first became interested in politics in my teens, reading Noam chomskys views in the Iraq war. From there I became interested in anarchism and socialism. I never went as far as joining a party as I didn't come across one I agreed with enough. In recent times, I have also become more interested in Irish republicanism, I learned a lot about it and start looking at it in a new way after reading a lot of caels posts on p.ie. I know think that in the Irish context socialism and republicanism go hand in hand, and we should work together to remove all forms of tyranny from this island, be it British imperialism, American corporate domination or German banksters. I'm currently working abroad but look forward to putting myself to the best possible use once I return home. I believe if we work together we can make real positive change in our country. 4 Dumbledore, nico, Laoch na nGael and 1 other reacted to this

RedConnolly 4 Report post Posted December 20, 2012 Hi my name is Barra. I come from An Dun. I have been on this site a number of months but I have yet to post. One of the main reasons for not posting is because I haven't educated myself on Communist theory to anywhere near the level of some posters on here, and that intimidates a bit. But I am reading more on Communist theory through this site and countless other books. At times I feel like entering the discussion but think I would need to immerse myself in literature before entering a debate on here. Yet this quote might sum me up-I never became a Communist because of far flung intellectual theorizing....I am a Communist because of what I am....oppressed! Looking forward to debating in future In Solidarity Barra 3 nico, Fodla32 and Dumbledore reacted to this
Dumbledore 154 Report post Posted December 21, 2012 I never noticed this thread before. I'm the same person that posts as irishrepublican1916 on ir.net and Protestant/Catholic=Irish on P.ie. I'm probably fairly unique on this site in the sense that I don't consider myself a communist. However, I like this site a lot due to the quality of the posters and the fact that I am provided with many articles that I otherwise would not see. I'm 18 now, and up until maybe a year and a half or so ago I was a doorty capitalist! That was out of ignorance more than anything else. Republican.ie and self-motivation to read educated me. My total break from support of the US came about through reading about Che Guevara and going to Africa. When it comes to social values, I am more traditional. No doubt this is largely because of growing up in rural Ireland. I always say that when it comes to fiscal issues, I think with my head, when it comes to social issues, I think with my heart. I'm in college, learning about local government, political science, economics, European and Irish politics etc etc. If I were to use one man to define my political ideology, it would be Pádraig Pearse. As Fodla said, I'm a nationalist before I'm an internationalist. I am currently learning Irish (for the amount I go on about it, I'd be a hypocrite if I don't!). I love sport, history and, to quote Hardy Bucks, drinkin', fightin' and shmokin' (although in reality it's really just drinking outta them latter 3) 3 nico, Fodla32 and Laoch na nGael reacted to this

grahamhira 8 Report post Posted April 22, 2014 Doubt if anybody will see this lol but Hi everyone, some of you may remember me from R.ie.I'm not on there as grahamhira anymore though.Basically,I'm a Republican and Communist from Cork who supports RSF.My interests include reading, history, politics, airsoft and Netflix lol.I find Marxism to be quite confusing but I can understand the basics and want to learn more.I'm currently looking forward to going to university next year and getting a degree,I want to be a teacher when I graduate and maybe do my best to be Padraig Pears's version as a fosterer of young minds rather than the zombie-like "educators" of today! 1 Fodla32 reacted to this
